  SchoolCenter PicturePrincipal's Message

Dear Parents,
I know your family has enjoyed summer vacation, and I hope students are looking forward to the start of school.  As we prepare to welcome students back, I want to share some information with you.
- We are planning an opening of school orientation on the Friday before school starts.  Please see the enclosed flyer for details.
- The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8, 2009.  Students should arrive on campus between 7:50 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. and line up for their new classroom.  The classroom assignments will be given out at the opening orientation on Friday, and will remain posted in the office window.  They will also be available in the morning on the first day of school.
- Parents are welcome to wait with their children until their new teacher comes for the class.  Please do not follow your child into their classroom on the first day.  There will be plenty of opportunities for you to visit the classroom and volunteer after the students have adjusted to their new environment.
- September 8, 9, 10 & 11 are all minimum school days for students in grades 1 - 6.  Class will start at 8:05 a.m. and students will be dismissed at 1:25 p.m. on these days.
- Regular school hours begin Monday, September 148h. Please see the class schedules below.
- Every Friday, starting on September 18th, classes will begin at 9:05 a.m. We have arranged for a series of enrichment classes to be offered before school from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Fridays for interested student.  The first series will be drawing classes provided by the Young Rembrandt  company, and we have included a registration form with this letter.  Students can turn in the registration form on the first day of school, but space is limited, so I recommend that you take advantage of the on-line registration at www.youngrembrandts.com/esgv.
- An envelope will be given out to parents at the opening of school orientation that will include important information for you to read, sign or share with your child.  Please plan some time over the weekend to go through this information with your child. For families who do not attend the orientation, the envelope will be sent home the first day of school.
- School hot lunches will begin on the first day of school and can be purchased from the cafeteria for $1.50 each day, or students can bring a lunch from home.
- Back-To-School-Night Programs -  This is an important opportunity to meet your child's new teacher and learn about grade level expectations.  These are scheduled for the third and fourth week of school, so please look in your first day envelope for dates and times for each class.  You will want to attend this very important event.
