Dear Parents and Members of the Community,
Washington Elementary School continues to make exceptional progress towards improving student achievement in Reading and Mathematics on the STAR Program state assessments. We are very proud that EdSource identified Washington School as an "Exemplary Progress School" during the 2002-03 school year. This year, Washington School increased its API score to 625 and met the base proficiency percentages in Reading (16%) and Math (31%) on the California Standards Test. Teachers and support staff have identified focus standards in Reading, Writing, Math and English Language Development (Trimester Academic Action Plans) to teach daily in order to help our students achieve mastery. Our goal this year continues to be to increase the proficiency level of our students on California Standards Test and to increase our API. For our 587 identified English Learners, we continue to focus on strategies that will increase their oral language proficiency by one level.
We welcome parents and members of the community to visit our school, and appreciate their support in helping our children improve their academic achievement and success in school!
